Some Heroes Carry a Baton NONPROFIT HIGHLIGHT: CSEHY SCHOOL OF MUSIC
Y ou’ve heard it said that “not all heroes wear capes.”
Maybe some heroes carry… a baton? Csehy Summer School of Music is a nonprofit organization where music campers engage with highly qualified music faculty from colleges and orchestras across the country. Trough musical ensembles and private lessons, faculty challenge campers to higher levels of performance while nurturing their Christian faith. Ambassador Advisors is honored to help this God- honoring organization pursue their planned giving goals.
Ever since the school was founded in 1962 by violin virtuoso Wilmos Csehy, the gospel message has been integrated through the pursuit of excellent artistry. Junior and senior high musicians each year come from up to 27 states and 10 countries. Executive Director Graeme Burgan shares, “One of the highlights for these students is to sit next to a musician from another country who is equally dedicated to their artistry as well as to their walk with Jesus. As iron sharpens iron, these campers often return to their homes with a fresh desire to pursue both art and faith.”
One of the ways that Csehy incorporates “serious fun” is theme days, including a superhero day! Campers and faculty who are

so seriously devoted to their music, and to their faith, are also committed to having great fun!
Te school currently hosts approximately 105 campers per week for each of their four weeks. Teir vision for the next several years is to expand to 120-130 campers and explore the strategic advantage of additional locations (Tey currently use the facilities at Houghton College in New York, but are not affiliated with that school.). With Ambassador’s help, Csehy’s leadership hopes to
grow their endowment base, so they can offer greater scholarships and financial aid. Teir hope is that no camper would miss out on the Csehy experience due to financial need.
Parents of campers frequently report that just a week or two in the summer at Csehy motivates their student for their whole year. Graeme Burgan noted that one camper who came from a non- Christian family accepted Jesus at camp several summers ago. In between each camp year, friends made at Csehy have continued to maintain a close personal support of her Christian walk. “We pray regularly that these campers and all of our alumni would be grounded in Christ and ambassadors for the Gospel wherever God’s path would take them,” he shares.
